You know what they say: when one door closes another one opens. And that is just what happened to Jennifer. As her old business started to wind down, it was the perfect opportunity to start fresh and bring an idea of hers that she had for some time to the market: The Idea Box. Her first Idea Box was created for her own children in 2000, and she wanted to spread this little educational box of joy with others.

Each box contains little, circular, wooden coins full of fun activities for the whole family to get involved with. While Jennifer did make this mainly for kids to enjoy learning without even knowing it, she also made it for parents to create memories with their children in an affordable yet creative way.

Challenge

Starting a business isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. “One of the hardest parts about starting a business is definitely the funding,” Jennifer told us. “But being a small business owner, you get pretty savvy at bootstrapping and learning how to use the resources you have to scale.”

Solution

The challenge of funding her business led to a Google search of custom dies, which introduced Jennifer to Custom Shape Pros, followed by the purchase of her die-cutting machine and her first custom die.
